Weekly Photo Challenge ~ Entrance (2)

Entrance to Expansion

Each time I reach this place, my heart beats faster, my spirit soars. This is the entrance to my “beach studio.” When I am here, I am fully here, excited, alive, feeling the breeze, hearing the breath of the lake, smelling the freshness of life, expanding my view… and always surprised by new beauty created by nature. I feel blessed. I am home, I am free, I am safe, I am loved and I feel the love of life, God, the Universe and everything and everyone in it, surrounding me, holding me as life flows around me, through me, in me…
Welcome to the entrance of my studio. We can sing, dance, make things, discover, explore, celebrate, give thanks, pray, learn, love… kinda like in church, eh? Thank you for visiting “my” beach studio. 🙂

I wonder what beauty we’ll find today?

May your day be filled with beautiful loving surprises and expanding views…

Happy Mountains

Dancing with Friends in the Mountains

Dancing in Wine Country Mountains

Looking for mountains ~ In California, with people I love, I thought these were lost, and now, because of this photo challenge, found. Not only did I find the images, but in doing this I recovered one of the happiest loving memories of my life. I forgot about some of the mountains I’ve visited, not the people I love.
When I’m in the mountains, I cannot see their magnificence, their height, appreciate their full beauty. It is only seen from a distance. Maybe loving is like that? I don’t see people’s full beauty, their magnificence if I get too close?
I visited these mountains, danced in these mountains with my two best friends, whom I love deeply and always.

May your day be filled with mountains of love, up close and from a distance.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Mountains

Smoky Mountain Range

Smoky Mountains, near Cherokee, Tennesee ~ Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It was gray, chilly, rainy and even though it was November, the color had not yet turned. It was a quick trip with a beloved friend, delivering a car to parents in Florida.

The last time I was near mountains was on a mad dash to Virginia in a blizzard… no chances to really see them or shoot them while focussing on arriving in time (and in one piece) for a Thanksgiving visit with grandchildren.
Living in the Tahquamenon Valley, near Lake Superior, I may have regressed to thinking the world is fairly flat? It may be flat here, and yet somedays the challenges feel like mountains.

Perhaps it is time to visit real mountains again! Spin the compass and see what direction to travel?

May your day be filled with natural blessings, good energy and your compass be set towards a new direction!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Mountains

Basalt Rocks

These basalt stones are common along the Lake Superior shore in Luce County and are found large and small.
While the abundance of the basalt rocks is annoying to some agate hunters who dismiss them as too abundant, I find the variety of blacks and the smooth shapes quite beautiful. They are wonderful to hold in your hand, smooth and warm. Here, they often wash up on the beach with these little holes in them and many call them “holey stones”, others call them “omers”.
What has all of this to do with mountains? We have no visible mountains nearby, and this lava rock is from a mountain exploding somewhere. I have collected mountains of these.
They are also quite useful in saunas as hot rocks, for massages as warm rocks placed on the body, and for alleviating aches and pains. They have mountains of good energy and uses. There is more, stories for another day, perhaps… There are some beautiful Native American stories about them and how they came to be.
Meanwhile, you can learn more at these links:

May your day be filled with natural blessings and good energy!

Spiritual Harvest

Yesterday’s Post was #100 on this blog. That seemed significant, a nice round number. So Thank YOU, reader, friend, for visiting, encouraging, commenting. While making the commitment to postaday2011, I was not fully cognizant of how slow my posting goes. I include images whenever possible, and love sharing beauty. I seem unable to post just to post, yet showing up is part of the game… especially in life!
Some wonderful people keep encouraging focus on just one thing – stoneworks, photography, or writing. For me, they are interconnected, inseparable. Combining visual art with writing is my “thing.” I am grateful for being me and the energy life gives me. What is my focus? To continue to share beauty, it is everywhere and always available, in nature, in people, in the universe. That may take the form of images, constructions, nature, words or in combination.
So for today, I am simply grateful for where I live, each breath I breathe, and the life I get to live and share, with friends and strangers alike. Thank you for being you, being who you are, doing what you do.
Another commitment has called, taking priority – completing artwork and other projects. My postaday2011 commitment has not been reached, and yet it is so useful to discover how commitment works.
At times I have commented that when I am fully committed to something, I may just have to be committed in an institution somewhere… LOL!
While I may not post every day, I am here, working, reading others blogs, slowly. Play time is also essential, and getting to the beach… which is playtime, worktime combined.
An earlier post says part of it, and now YOU are a part of the Basket of Abundance .
I am renaming it “Basket of Abundance & Gratitude” just for you – You are all part of the abundance, variety, diversity, life on this planet!
Thank you for being in the basket!

May your day be filled with beauty and love, and if you cannot find it, just look in the mirror and smile!

Happy Trails

Heading home...

With back to the sunset
Today’s path in light
Shimmering glimpses
While heading for night

Trees splashed golden
Gazing upward to see
Path clear ahead
Open through trees

Blazed by others
Coyote, wolf, deer
Packed solid by paws
Made wider by bear

Easy adventure
Finding way back
Fast-food lane pause
For a blueberry snack

Evening chir-rup-pers
Call goodnight in ease
Breathing pine air
On whisper of breeze

Happy Trails! May your day be filled with easy journeys, clear, soft paths and light and joy! Thank you for walking this smile[sic] in my boots with me. 🙂

From the Tao ~ Energy

Ancient Wisdom

“Be still. Follow your inner wisdom. In order to know your inner wisdom, one has to be still.” ~ From the “Tao of Leadership” by John Heider – 1986

My classes are going well. My life is incredible! I am teacher and student. The stillness in my life is producing so much movement and energy. Old bodies of work, new bodies of work, old friends dancing with new friends. I am deeply grateful for every new challenge. As doors close, new ones open.
Thank you to everythingisenergy.com for everything.
That would be David and Kristin Morelli, who offered a wonderful series of speakers, and for David’s amazing ability to create rock solid exercises, on the spot, from the speakers shared wisdom. Kristin’s insights from her own life were open, vulnerable and so insightful.
Yes ~ I have been being still. The computer monitor glitch from last week still exists and my horizons have broadened as a result. LOL! There are no coincidences in life!
The yin and yang of life is a balance of change, dark and light, night and day, and today is a new day, a new month… and I honor my feelings of newness and clarity. Today I dance with yin and yang… being still and listening to ancient songs and the energy of quiet stones.
May your day be filled with light and energy and much love.
